The Abyss

A black hole.  Just a great big space where ideas are sucked up and disappear.   That’s my head right now.  Something will spark at the edge of my brain and when I attempt to grab it, it slips away, like so much mercury in my fingertips.

I’ve had a couple people ask me in the last day or two, if I blog every day.  No, I told them.  I did in November and December, but this month I’m cutting back.

Now I’m sitting here without a thought in my head.  (All right, I have thoughts, but they aren’t about blogging.  They’re things like- where did all my scissors go? And-will the chicken get done in time to make dinner? And-why doesn’t anyone fold that laundry?)  Blogging every day was difficult and sometimes stressful.  My husband asked if it was worth it- the anxiety.  But, it was.  My writing improved and ideas came every single almost every day.

So, I’ve decided I’m going back to the everyday-blogging.  I need it to keep me going.  And, maybe a little  stress is good for me.

Do you blog every day?  Whether you do or not,  where do you get your inspiration?

  1. I know what that's the like-the whole black hole thing.
Like you, I blogged in November and December straight. But this month I had to cut back, I have to focus on my schoolwork (fail because I didn't do as much focusing as I had planned). But I can't wait to get back to blogging straight again. I loved it. Most of my inspirations, however, came from the random photos I took during the week, or at night, when I was too tired to jot them down. So they never became posts. *sigh*
Good luck blogging every day again!

  2. I know I need to get my camera out more. Or post about the pictures that my 5 year-old takes.

  3. My mother-in-law had a "black hole" in her house. It was a spare room where everything that didn't have a home was put. If you couldn't find something you were looking for, it was probably in the black hole.

I have written every day since November. But sometimes my posts are just about nothing. I read some people's posts and wonder "how can they write like that?" I haven't gotten much inspiration lately - maybe cuz I need a vacation?!! haha

  4. I blog to document memories. Silly, fun, truly memorable, triumphs, outings.... So no, I don't post daily. I have started a back log of unfinished posts though. I work on them a little at a time. I make sure I get the title down close to the day so it stays somewhat in order though. Good luck retrieving your thoughts from the black hole. I totally understand.

  6. Funny, isn't it? I blogged every day in October and November...and almost every day in December. I never really had a shortage of things to say. But this month I told myself I could take it easy...and now it's like pulling teeth to come up with something to write about. What's up with that???

  9. I have been blogging every day since November 1. And like Judy said, not every post is really "inspired." I do find so much to write about AND think about reading other people's blogs, though. I also think that when I know I'm going to have to write every day, I am definitely paying more attention to what's going on around me and in the world. It's not like there's more happening, just that every little thing that happens, I'm thinking, "What can I do with THIS?"
