Random Friday

Between NaBloPoMo (posting every day), and NaNoWriMo (writing a novel in a month),  and looking for a job- some of my posts may be short and sweet. Or just short.  And, since it's November, I may use the whole 'thanksgiving' thing as my cop out. My apologies. Today, I'm thankful for two hours to myself while the kids were at school. I was going to write the whole time. Instead, I sewed for most of it. I made helped my friend make a 'binder purse' I'd seen on Pintrest. We made it yesterday. (Thanks, Michelle!) I realized the straps were too long, so today I fixed them.  I did write, though I still have about 600 words to finish for today. Speaking of Pintrest-- do you? Pintrest? Oh, it's like quicksand. Sucks you right in till you can't, or don't want to, get out. I'll be doing a Pintrest post soon. I love it in a very unhealthy way. My family (siblings and parents) is doing a Biggest Loser competition. We're focusing more on hea...

Some Things I Love, and Some I Don't

It's Friday. Here's my life in a nutshell. Because I'm nutty. I made it through two weeks of school. At least three of those days, we had a morning-long fight about whether or not Max could stay home 'just for one day'. (He didn't.) When things are going well, do you worry about the next trial that's just waiting to fall? Do you wonder and speculate what it might be? Are you ever right? Yeah, me neither. I've been working out with my friend, Brigette.  I haven't been this sore since I tried out for dance team in high school. I love that I'm at a point in life where I don't mind being the only woman in the gym. One reason I love being a grown-up? Telling a bunch of high schoolers that- 'No, that isn't the end of the line. The end of the line is waaay back there, behind me and all these other people who've been waiting. So move!' I also love when my kid's friends walk past me in the school and call me mommy. My ...

Random Friday

The random thoughts going through my brain today. 1. A flat surface in my house, any flat surface, given enough time (like 2 days), will look like this- 2. Teaching your child to spell is not 100% a good idea. 3. If someone saw the laundry and magazines and Eagle Scout project supplies taking up my bed, they might assume I'm a hoarder. (No picture, because I doubt you want to see my unfolded laundry.) 4. I rock at making teacher appreciation bulletin boards. (Also, I can't spell bulletin. I had to look it up. duh.) 5. Cars are tools of the devil. Plain and simple. Today, I would like to do to my car what Cameron did to his dad's in Ferris Beuller. You know, kick the crap out of it, then send it flying- Pretty sure the insurance wouldn't cover it, though. 6. What's worse than having your car break down on your way home from the junior high school? Missing a massage because your car broke down on the way home from the junior...

A Random Gift

Wow. What a week. I was awarded the 'Most Versatile Blog' award-twice.  I'm honored. I'd like to thank the academy, wait, wrong award.  I do appreciate the two bloggers who gifted this to me. First was Gillian at The Greener Bean .  I found her on last month's NaBloPoMo. She's young and cute and lives in New York City. Sort of my polar opposite.  I find her and her life completely fascinating. Next came the award from Shelby at Every Little Blessing .  I first visited her blog because she was offering to answer photography questions. I keep visiting because she's an awesome writer. The rules for the award are as follows- Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to their blog. Share 7 random things about yourself. Nominate 15 fellow bloggers for the award. Add the award badge to your post. Now, I have two small problems with these rules. First, I've shared a lot of random things about myself lately.  That, and the fact that I blo...
