My Heart Will Go On..Thanks to Preservatives
Yes, this is a potato chip.
Yes, it is a perfect heart.
No, I did not nibble the edges to make it perfect.
It came out of the bag this way. That was months ago. It's been sitting on my shelf in my bedroom ever since. I don't normally keep old food on shelves. Not even in my pantry. We have 8 kids. Food never gets the chance to age around here.
I just didn't know what to do with it. I mean, how often do you find food like this? OK, people find food with images on it. Virgin Mary on grilled cheese and all that. But, I don't believe in 'signs' or that God was sending me a message via Lay's. But, I couldn't eat it either.
So, it's been collecting dust for the past several months. I'm amazed it hasn't broken. Or attracted bugs. Or small hands that would send a dusty chip to a slobbery end. I figure I have two choices-
1- Modge-podge it and make a necklace.
2- Sell it on e-bay. (That 'Virgin Mary'sandwich sold for $28,000. Seriously.)
What do you think?
haha - you probably could make some money from it on ebay! And then you could really pay me a penny for my thought :)
ReplyDeleteYou'd think I couldn't send you a check for a few pennies, but my husband (who has one share in Disney) gets a check every year, ranging from 23-35 cents.
DeleteI would say get out your Drimel Tool or laser beam and sell "them" -copies- on eBay. But keep your original sacré-cœur for the pattern, sealed away in a vault filled with nitrogen gas and guarded by Dobermanns, armed burly stern men in uniforms and let no one else know the combination.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any Dobermanns, but I do have a fierce shih tzu who could guard it. Then again, he'd probably eat it, given the opportunity.
DeleteHow weird is that, but also neat. With 8 kids I think it's a sign that you are blessed. I'd frame it as a reminder every time you get frazzled. :D)
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought of framing it. I might just do that.
DeleteI'm with Kat, put it in a nice shadow box and hang it on the wall--maybe next to a wedding picture for a romance theme. ;)
ReplyDeleteOr as a shrine to my love of food.
DeleteHahaha! Put it in food storage? Kidding! I always say, "take a picture of it then throw it or eat it!" Phil is really sentimental like that. I'm not so much.
ReplyDeleteMmmm, it's pretty nasty at this point. I don't think eating is an option. I am glad to have a picture, because one of these days it'll just disintegrate.
DeleteWow! That's awesome!! I like the shrine to the love of food idea. (:
ReplyDeleteI may have to put it in my kitchen. Protected, of course, since one of my kids would probably eat it.
Deletecute story... I can not believe how you handle 8 kids .. and a blog at that ! congrats !
ReplyDeleteawe!
would not know what to do with this piece of food, but now that you have a post and comments.. time to get rid of it or let it autodistruct itself !
The only reason I can blog is that most of my kids are in school all day. Plus, I'm pretty good at tuning them out.
DeleteIt's way cooler than that George Washington Chicken McNugget that seems to be everywhere online right now. I have to wonder just how much you could eBay the thing for--and then you'd have to pack it VERY carefully for shipping...
ReplyDeleteTrue, I'd probably sell it, then have a lawsuit because it showed up in crumbs.
DeleteI think you're my new friend. How could I not feel an immediate connection with someone who posted about an old potato chip? It's beautiful. (And also, I LOVE your blog name.)
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could make a clay replica of it for me. =0)
DeleteAnd, the name is completely appropriate- just ask my kids.
can you shellac it all up and make it a Christmas tree ornament? And make it the background on all future picture Christmas cards?
ReplyDelete'Cause that would be awesome.
You know, I collect Christmas ornaments, so that's not a bad idea.
