Reader Appreciation Award
Oops! I missed a day of NaBloPoMo- don't tell,ok?
Today, I had a car for the first time in a week (which meant I had to drive the Handy Man to work at 4:50am -blech!) So, I've been running errands all day and am just now sitting down with my laptop. *sigh*
Now, I'm answering the questions asked by Sleepy Joe when she gave me this sweet award.
I will try to keep the rules, as much as possible. One of the perks of getting older is that you don't feel the need to always 'color in the lines'.
1-Answer the questions posed by the person who nominated you.
2-Nominate some others for this award. I'm nominating some of my readers who've been with me the longest.
3- Post 10 questions for you nominees to answer.
First, here are my answers.
1-Who is your favourite band or singer or song?
I'm a huge Racal Flatts fan. I've seen them in concert 5 times. But, right now, my favorite song is by a country singer named Jerrod Niemann called Shinin' on Me. Take a listen-
2-Describe yourself as the main character in your own fairy tale.
I would be the princess who spent hours in the tower, daydreaming and reading books. Then, when Prince Charming came, he would not be able to find me. So, I would have to chase him down.
3-If you have a nickname, what is it and how did you come by it?
My dad called me Squeager for as long as I can remember. It sort of evolved to Squeag. It's what he still calls me. I also get called Jules, which I love.
4-What is your favorite word?
Hope.
5-Who are your favorite literary couple?
I think I've said this before- the Weasleys' from Harry Potter. They're so down-to-earth and family is the most important thing to them. Plus, Molly is completely frazzled and frumpy.
6-What is your favorite poem?
When I read that question, one poem came to mind. It's one I read years and years ago, but one that I fell in love with. It's by Carol Lynn Pearson
TO THE SOUND OF THE RAIN
7-Do you like having someone play with your hair?
Let's answer this way, I recently paid my son $10 to brush my hair for an hour. It was absolutely worth it!
8-What is your greatest ambition?
To have my children become strong, confident, happy adults. And, for them to provide me with loads of grandchildren, after they move out.
9-If you have time alone, where do you go to find peace?
I love the mountains, that has been 'my place' since I was a teenager. But, there is no place I can find more peace than in the temple.
10-What is your favorite film?
Oh, man! Talk about impossible! I am a movie junkie! A few of my favorites are Spanglish, the Bourne series, and everything Harry Potter. (I also LOVE Daniel Craig as 007, and can't wait to see the new one!)
So, now for my questions:
1-What book, if your friend said they'd never read it, would cause you to say, "I don't believe it! You have to read it!"
2-Have you broken a bone? How many?
3-If you could go back to school, what would your major be?
4-Who is your favorite villain? Why?
5-Rule breaker or follower?
6-How old were you when you left home?
7-What is your greatest phobia?
8-If you could be invited to any big, celebrity event, what would it be?
9-Who was the last person you talked to on the phone?
10- You've been kidnapped, the assailants allow you to bring two things from home before they lock you up. What would you bring? (no cell phones, or family members)
There you go. If anyone else wants to play along, feel free.

TO THE SOUND OF THE RAIN
I want to love you tonight
To the sound of the rain.
I want to be
Roof and walls to you,
And burning wood.
I want you to see my smile
For a second of lightning.
I want you to hear
The steady beat of my heart
Between the thunder
And my voice
Whispering your name
And almost silent kisses
As I love you tonight
To the sound of the rain.

That poem is beautiful! Love your answer to number seven, your nicknames are cute and now I'm going to check out the trailer for Spanglish.
ReplyDeleteYay you joined in :-D You will be glad to know (or maybe not) that as you are both NaNo ing and NaBlo ing I thought I would avoid nominating you for another award ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love your answers. Hope is by far one of the best words so far, $10 to play with your hair, do you hire him out?? Of course the pond would be an awkward! Daniel Craig as 007 is by far the best 007 and I am frantically trying to find a sitter so we can go (our first date was to Goldeneye so it is kind of a tradition!). The song is beautiful and that poem has been noted for future use it is gorgeous ;-)
I love finding out more about you and you have set some fab questions for your nominees to answer! Love and hugs xx
Congrats on the award, Squeager.
ReplyDeleteAnd we have exactly the same ambition in life. Although, I don't think I'm very good at getting there!
I love your questions. I think a lot can be said for the questions people ask others. And I might just have to answer them sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteI love the twist to your happily ever after in the fairy tale question. And I loved the movie Spanglish. I hadn't thought about it in years, but I was just talking to someone the other day about how much I hate Adam Sandler movies EXCEPT that one.
