Just Plain Lame

I apologize profusely to the NaBloPoMo powers that be.  I signed up with every intention of posting every day.  Like a kid at an all-you-can-eat buffet, I imagined that I could have some of everything.  But, as my mother would say, 'My eyes were bigger than my stomach.'

But, I am writing. Furiously. I'm still a bit stunned that I've written 13 chapters in less than two weeks.  I'm behind, but determined to catch up.  It's amazing that at the end of the month I'll have a book.

I'm trying hard to ignore my inner editor and leave the rough edges for later. I think about going back to make changes and fight that urge.  I just keep going on, letting the story develop.

I'm working on a blurb and when I like it, I'll post it here.

Sorry for the lameness.

P.S.

  3. I have a problem with my inner editor, too, so I pacify her by using the "comment" feature on Word. I make changes pretty abruptly, in some cases. For example, tonight two characters poofed into thin air smack in the middle of a scene because I decided they weren't adding anything to the story. Instead of editing them out of the scene totally, I left a comment for myself later (in case I forget what I was thinking) that I decided they were useless so I cut them. I also do this with plot changes, leave a little comment that says, "Proceed as if X happened instead of Y. X was a dumb idea." It helps a lot and I think it will be the only way I can follow my own story when I go back to revise it!

  6. I don't know if you do this too, but I Google myself every once in awhile. Kicks and giggles and all that. Just Googled your blog, and you're number one, yo. Top of your competition for your name. Grats :)
